New Muppets Movie Scheduled for Release on Christmas 2011

Box Office Mojo is reporting an interesting scheduling decision coming from Disney pitting The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever (tentative title) otherwise known as The Muppets against Spielberg’s 3D adventure The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

The site says that Disney has penciled in a release date of December 25, 2011. As it stands right now, December 2011 is going to be a giant smackdown between some heavy blockbusters. Previous to Christmas on December 16th, you have Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D, Mission: Impossible IV, and Sherlock Holmes 2 getting released.

The Muppets next film is being directed by James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) and will star Jason Segal along with you favorite Muppet characters. Segal also co-wrote the film with Nick Stoller.

I have always loved the Muppets going back to the Muppet show.

I just hope they do a good job and not just put a movie out for the sake
of putting out a movie.

Of all the movies listed above, the Muppet movie is the only one that interests me. I'll look forward to it.

Jason Segel is hilarious. He wrote and starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which, in my opinion, was the best comedy of 2008. If the Dracula musical that we wrote for the film actually existed, I would go see it in an instant. He's a talented dude and definitely has the musical chops for a Muppet film.

I've been looking forward to this for a while now. Good to see it's finally getting some official release talk.

Man, the more I read about this movie, the more pumped I get!

Chris Cooper playing the villain is awesome, and I love the idea of the Walter Muppet. This movie has the potential to be something great.

In case nobody has heard this, the new Muppet film's release date has been bumped up to Thanksgiving.

I, too, am looking forward to seeing it.
