Does anyone know if the Swan and Dolphin Hotels are going to open up time shares? I love those hotels. _________________ Wish I was at Epcot... |

The Swan and Dolphin are owned and operated by Starwood Resorts. Starwood does have timeshare properties throughout the country and have been fairly successful. Based on their stock price, they are keeping up with the industry leaders despite the slow economy. Since I work for a competitor of theirs, I do not have a good knowledge of their plans, but I do have a pretty good idea of what is going on in the industry. I highly doubt that they would convert their hotel properties at Disney into timeshare in the near future. That would take some capital in pulling off such a conversion. Other companies are finding other ways to acquire timeshare units without spending much in development. Again, I don't know how creative Starwood is in spending. But I would doubt anything happening at the Swan/Dolphin for the next few years if at all. |

would they be allowed to do so with the contract they have with Disney? I can not imagine Disney would want timeshare competition right with in its own site... |

I'm sure there is a stipulation in their contract that puts Disney in charge of any development of that land and what type of units are there. |

Wouldn't stop Starwood from building just outside the outskirts, like over by Falcon's Fire. |

But there isn't much building going on right now. The trend is to takeover units from bankrupt porperties. |
